ABSTRACT

The Upstream Oil and Gas industry's success is dependent upon immediate access to trained employees; demand and "cost per Barrel" dictate activity levels throughout the industry. In the patch the "hire when required" model was effective; however, given today's sophisticated oil and gas technologies and an enhanced regulatory regime, the available workforce is often not adequately trained, industry certified, or legislatively compliant, to complete the required tasks. Pointedly, field-specific training is required "just in time" and "at the worksite".
Industry-sector training providers struggle to meet these demands - due to their labor and time intensive developmental models - and must change and adapt their program development and dissemination strategies (traditional classroom and on-line) to meet the needs of the customers.
This session presents an overview of instructional technology strategies and provides an overview of Oil and Gas-specific blended development and delivery opportunities.
