Video programs, although mastered on various formats, must be submitted on DVD or via a link to the resource online. Any multimedia/interactive/web-based productions must be fully functional and entrants must list any special plug-ins or codes needed to view/use them. These submissions must be able to run without the purchase of additional software.

Judging and Awards

One Media Festival Award may be given in each category (instructional, informational, or creative) and classification (K-12, post-secondary, government /commercial/industrial). Judges may also grant Honorable mention for productions meeting pre-established criteria.

The Canadian Education Association Achievement Award is presented in recognition of the outstanding educational program in the festival. The best Visual Media production in three classifications will be awarded; School and School Systems; Post Secondary Institutions; and Government or Commercial/Industrial agencies. Please note: The entry form requires entrants to identify their Target Audience and Goals and Objectives. Assessment will be considered on overall production quality versus the production resources used to complete the entry.

Eligibility

Productions entered in the Media Festival must have been completed between January and December 2008. Note: All submissions must have at least one partner individual/organization which is a current CNIE member to be eligible to submit.

Copyright waiver

Payment of the entry fee will be used as your agreement that all materials used in your production, (script, music, visual etc.) have been released and copyright has been obtained. Submission of an entry to the Media Festival constitutes permission from the copyright holder for CNIE to use short clips (usually 30 seconds or less) from the entry during the Media Festival, and in promotion of CNIE award programs or conferences. In addition, the entrant releases his/her production for viewing on demand by conference attendees during the Media Showcase at the annual CNIE conference.
